"I don’t want to hear names," Personnel Reviewer Nikolas Uxbridge said, "and I don’t want blind accusations. This was your first assignment. Your first. Look how poorly it turned out, after all the time and expense the Konvokashun took to training you. We would, of course, prefer to get you reassigned to another starship, hopefully where you will find a long and successful career."
Yeoman Jon Leonard had steeled himself to say little. He wanted reassignment, not termination from service. "I appreciate that. I was told when I was assigned that Prize had a close-knit crew with whom I would be happy to serve."
"It is a statistical aberration that someone would press for immediate reassignment after only one mission, especially from a coveted starship such as Prize," Nikolas lied. "We had high hopes for you based on your entrance examinations That’s why we assigned you to the flagship of the sector. The captain, the entire crew, they all have such outstanding records of service and an unqualified success rate in the many years they have served together."
Jon noted that Nikolas talked too much and used too many big words, perhaps to impress and or intimidate him....
